Evils of Social Networking

Facebook.... My Space... Orkut... Twitter... the list goes on and on. These days, our interaction with the outside world is limited because of the advent of these so called social networking so much so that our friends on these sites are more up-to date with our daily life rather than our own family members and friends whose faces we see everyday. We fail to recognize the importance of these actual people who play such important roles in our life with/without our knowledge and only end up acknowledging their presence in our lives when we avail of their help.
I wonder if in the future our real lives will be controlled by our virtual lives on a minute-minute to basis. I guess we will then have to inform our 'real' family members about our whereabouts through these sites and so-called status updates and all the physical activity you get is through the games on these sites. I do not deny the fact that I too have a Facebook account but I make it a point to not let Facebook rule my life and ruin the peace of my mind of my near and dear ones because of the amount of time spent on these sites. I seriously do not understand what is so fascinating about these games like Farmville, Cafe World, etc that people leave their domestic chores undone to complete their tasks in these games and move ahead to the next level. Shouldn't they be striving towards moving to the next level in their real personal lives rather than wasting time advancing to higher levels in these games which actually give back 0% benefits? Who is to be blamed for the addiction to these sites? Is it the companies which start thee sites in order to fuel their users' passion of doing things which they would have otherwise normally not thought of doing or are not given an opportunity to do so in this urban setup or is the concept of urbanization which has led to the eradication of farming and all such small pleasures of life which are found only in rural setups?
I only hope that people realize the importance of their own family members and friends in their real lives rather than their virtual counterparts. The other most important aspect of this addiction to social networking is the breaking down of our health systems due to long hours spent in front of the computer and also the lack of serious physical activity on a daily basis which can give rise to extremely serious health repercussions like high blood pressure, heart problems, etc. If the addiction becomes so strong as to make your health situation worse, only pray that it doesn't reach a stage where it becomes irreversible and you have to leave your Fate in the hands of God who too won't be able to help you in any manner whatsoever.
I hope this piece of writing helps people realize their folly and take corrective measures to repair the damage already done and to control any further damage that can take place.
